Geekom’s A6 mini PC is down to $479 at Amazon, a special $170 discount from its original $649 with discount code GEEKOMA620 at checkout. This mini PC stands out for its workstation-class speed and incredible price-performance, all packed into an ultra-compact, premium aluminum chassis.
At the heart of this mini PC is an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H CPU, which might be a 2022-era chip but don’t let that turn you away. It’s still a very capable eight-core processor built on AMD’s Zen 3+ mobile architecture that prioritizes efficiency, meaning performance-per-watt over sheer power. That makes it suitable as a workstation for remote workers.
That Zen 3+ architecture also brings RDNA 2 graphics with it, making this mini PC even capable of light gaming via Radeon 680M integrated graphics. That means discrete-level visual performance, able to handle up to 1080p at modest settings at reasonable frame rates. If you’re only playing light fare like Stardew Valley and Vampire Survivors, you’ll be more than happy with this machine.
Within, you’ll find 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD—but the bigger practical win is that neither RAM nor storage are soldered, so they’re both replaceable and upgradeable up to 64GB memory and 4TB storage. Good to know for the future when memory and storage prices come down when (if?) the shortage subsides. (Note, however, that the second M.2 slot is in a smaller 2242 form factor.) And that aluminum chassis is a nice touch: sleeker than plastic, better at cooling, and quiet enough that it won’t distract while you work.
This isn’t the right mini PC for you if you intend to do heavy gaming, in which case you should shell out for a proper desktop, or a high-end gaming laptop, or a mini PC with Oculink for external GPUs. It’s also not completely quiet, so if you only plan to work and need minimal noise, you may want to spring for a different model.
But if you want a solid mixture of workstation performance and light gaming, the Geekom A6 is a great pick—especially now that it’s on sale for $479 with code GEEKOMA620 at checkout.
