Modern smartphones are lighter, thinner, and faster than ever, but one thing they aren’t is stylish. I know because I’ve been looking for something that stands out from the sea of oblong rectangles in every phone store, and it’s been rough going.
But at Computex, PCWorld’s Adam Patrick Murray stumbled upon what could be the answer to my prayers: Ayaneo’s Pocket Play. You can see for yourself in our video below:
I love the look of this slick little Android device because it reminds me of the old Motorola Droid Razr I used to own, which had a screen you could slide over the keyboard to cover it when not in use.
The Ayaneo Pocket Play looks a bit more evolved, as it sports a 6.8-inch 1080p OLED touchscreen powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip. Beneath that sliding display is a pair of touchpads as well as a plain old-fashioned D-pad and set of buttons, suggesting this thing could be great for both classic and newer games.
