We all remember the old StumbleUpon. It was a piece of magic back in the day that let you explore every nook and cranny of the world wide web. Then it disappeared in 2018, taking a little piece of the old internet with it.
Now it’s back.
StumbleUpon.cc revives the original idea to help you discover random, interesting websites. The concept hasn’t changed much, and that’s the best part. Instead of trying to update it and failing, they rebooted it pretty much just the way it was. Visit the website, hit the Stumbleupon button, and away you go.
You think Google or TikTok would’ve ever led you to a site that parodies old Irish drinking songs with versions about cats? I don’t think so. This is the silliness that StumbleUpon delivers.

What makes StumbleUpon.cc stand out is that it blessedly purposefully avoids the pitfalls of modern recommendation algorithms. Most platforms try to show you more of what you’ve already seen. StumbleUpon goes the other direction. It encourages curiosity. Instead of optimizing for engagement, it optimizes for surprise.
It’s the same appeal that makes random Wikipedia exploration so much fun. You start with one page and end up somewhere completely unexpected, learning things you never planned to learn.
I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit clicking through the old StumbleUpon and now I find myself right back at it doing the same thing with the new version. Some of the sites I find are useful. Some are weird. A few are complete nonsense. And it’s all part of the charm.
If you’ve been missing the feeling of exploring the web instead of scrolling through it, StumbleUpon.cc is worth a visit. The internet still has plenty of hidden gems—you just need the right button to find them.
