The second report comes via a post by itspdfu, who has a history of posting accurate leaks online. They report that audioOS27, the upcoming operating system for HomePod devices, supports Siri AI. In addition to Siri Ai support, the new HomePod will have new animations for the device’s display.
An alarming point in itspdfu’s report is that new hardware may be needed, which means that Siri AI would not be available of older HomePods. Apple released the original HomePod in 2018, and it had a three-year run before Apple paused production of the product. Then in 2023, Apple released an updated HomePod, which remains currently available for purchase.
Itspdfu’s report doesn’t mention the new HomePod mini specifically, though it’s long been rumored that the new HomePod mini will have Siri AI support as well. We’re also expecting a new Apple TV 4K with Siri AI support. None of the current devices support Apple Intelligence or the new Siri.
Apple is expected to make a big push into the smarthome market with the new HomePods and an new device that’s been dubbed a “home hub” that acts as a central control point. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple plans to release the new devices before the end of the year.
