In a recent Google Workspace Updates blog post, the company announced that it has begun rolling out two updates to the “Help me write” feature in Gmail, which are designed to do two things: make AI-generated emails sound more like you wrote them yourself, and enable the ability to gather more context for generated emails.
“Help me write” will now be able to adapt the tone and style of its AI-generated drafts based on your previous emails. The feature will now also be able to retrieve and use information from your Google Drive and your Gmail inbox in its email-generating suggestions.
The updates for “Help me write” began rolling out on May 5th, but it may take up to 15 days before you’re able to take advantage in your own Gmail inbox. Note, however, that “Help me write” is only available to users who are paying for a Google AI Plus, Pro, or Ultra subscription, or users who are part of a business/enterprise plan.
