If you’ve been waiting to try out the upcoming “adult mode” in ChatGPT, you’ll unfortunately have to wait a little longer. Engadget reports that OpenAI has once again postponed the launch of this new mode that promises to allow adult (read: erotic) conversations with the chatbot.
A spokesperson for OpenAI announced that the company has decided to postpone the launch of the adult mode so that the devs can instead focus on higher priority work that will benefit more users.
The adult mode is still under development, but it will simply take more time to release. OpenAI did not reveal a new launch window for the mode. It was originally slated for launch in December 2025, but was then delayed to the first quarter of 2026.
