Is Netflix in your living room sounding a little flat and lifeless? There’s no easier way to crank up your streaming audio than with a soundbar, and this gem from Sonos is getting an enticing discount for Cyber Monday.
On sale now for $349, a $150 discount versus its usual $499 asking price, the second-generation Sonos Beam makes for a great way to add more depth and bass to your home streaming setup. Just connect the Beam to your TV’s eARC-enabled HDMI port, position it in front of your screen, run the Sonos audio-calibrating Trueplay utility using the Sonos app, and you’re all set.
The Sonos Beam is an all-in-one soundbar, meaning it crams in discrete drivers for the left, right, center, and left/right surround channels, and it can also deliver virtual Dolby Atmos height cues without the need for upfiring or in-ceiling speakers. The Beam also packs three passive radiators that (as I discovered during my testing) crank out a surprising amount of bass.
Of course, the beauty of a soundbar like the Sonos Beam is that you can always upgrade it later with more speakers; for example, you can add a couple of Sonos Era 100 speakers (also on sale, by the way) as left and right surrounds, as well as a Sonos Sub or Sub Mini for added bass.
Aside from pairing it with your TV for streaming audio, the Beam can stream tunes from Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, or even your local music from Plex and other networked sources. The Beam also supports AirPlay 2, meaning you can stream audio to the soundbar from your iPhone.
I’ve previously reviewed the second-gen Sonos Beam and came away impressed with its performance and features; it’s a great way to up the ante on your streaming audio in a mid-size or smaller room, and at $349 for Cyber Monday, it’s priced to move.
