AI is going to be the prevailing theme at WWDC26 on June 8, and a new report provides a sneak peek at the new AI-based Siri. But while Siri is certainly the star, the report also provides details on iOS 27’s new Camera app as well.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Camera app is getting the Siri treatment and will replace the current Visual Intelligence implementation, which is currently a separate action triggered by the Camera Control button. Within the Camera app, users will be able to select between “Photo,” “Siri,” and “Video,” and the Siri option uses an AI agent to analyze the picture you shot, or you can submit your photo in a Google reverse image search. Gurman said that this new implementation is an attempt to “increase adoption and help acclimate users to visual AI” ahead of Apple’s upcoming AirPods with cameras and rumored smart glasses.
Users who make as much use of the Camera app as they can will appreciate the new ability to customize the UI. As previously reported, the Camera app will now support Widgets with a new panel to let users swap out the default controls for more detailed settings used by professional photographers. Widgets include controls such as depth of field, timers, and photographic modes such as Night mode.

The Photos app is getting an AI boost, as well. As previously reported, a new Reframe feature will change the perspective of a shot, while Extend can be used to generate AI portions within an existing image. For example, Extend can, say, fill in part of a building that was not in the original shot.
