If there’s a time to buy a Microsoft Surface, it’s now. Right now. NOW. Because Microsoft is raising prices in a big way.
Microsoft has increased the prices of its Surface devices across the board, continuing the unfortunate trend of pricing inflation for tech products, even older ones. In each case, the price seems to have increased by $100 or more — but not all retailers seem to have received the message. By acting fast you can literally save hundreds of dollars by shopping elsewhere.
Consider Microsoft’s 12-inch Surface Pro, the 2025 model that we reviewed for $799.99. Officially, Microsoft has now marked it up to $1,049.99. However, at press time Amazon was still selling the 12-inch Surface Pro for $899, with the same memory loadout and CPU configuration as Microsoft.
It’s a familiar story — RAM, SSD, and even Intel CPU prices are on the rise — and Microsoft’s being dragged along with it. Remember when we warned you that PC makers might begin raising prices in 2026 as a result? That time is upon us, even as multiple PC makers begin publicly or privately raising prices. So yes, act fast. Here’s a list of Microsoft Surface devices, with their prices on Microsoft’s store and their price (for now) elsewhere for much less.
- Microsoft Surface Pro (11th Edition) 13-inch: now starts at $1,549 at Microsoft with a Snapdragon X Elite inside. At Target, it’s $1,349.99.
- Surface Laptop, 13-inch (Snapdragon X Plus): now $1,149.99 and up at Microsoft, but $849.99 at Staples
- Surface Laptop, 13.8-inch (Snapdragon X Elite): $1,549.99 at Microsoft, but Best Buy sells it for $1,049.99.
- Surface Laptop (15-inch) (Snapdragon X Elite): $1,599 on up at Microsoft, but still at $1,149 at B&H.
I can’t tell you that those prices will remain available, but for right now Microsoft seems to be increasing its own prices while letting retailers make their own decisions. If you were considering a Microsoft Surface device in the near future, act fast!
