The Night Light feature in Windows, which protects your eyes from blue light to help you sleep better, has been available in Windows 10 and 11 for quite some time. But it now appears that Microsoft has an updated version of the feature in the pipeline for Windows 11.
Famed Windows Insider phantomofearth has discovered that Microsoft is testing a new “Screen Tint” feature in a preview version of Windows 11, as shared in a social media post. While Night Light could only give your screen an orange-ish tint to protect against blue light, Screen Tint will offer a range of different colors with varying effects, and you’ll even be able to set unique color tones on the screen yourself.
Among the preset color tones are pink, which is said to help with migraines; blue, which is said to reduce screen glare; and gray, which is said to help those who easily tire of the sharp contrast between black and white on the screen.
It’s unclear when Microsoft will roll out Screen Tint more broadly. The feature was hidden in preview version 26300.8289 of Windows 11, and Microsoft has not yet said anything official about the feature.
