This year we saw a slew of cool new PC hardware unveiled at Computex 2026, but for my money the most exciting announcements were the debut of new gaming PC handhelds from Asus and MSI.
I’m talking, of course, about the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ and the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20. They look similar, but they have some key differences under the hood you’ll want to know about before you buy one.
That’s why PCWorld’s Adam Patrick Murray met up with Russ from Retro Game Corps to chat about everything they learned and saw about these two gaming gadgets at Computex.
I found their friendly banter really helpful because right now Asus and MSI haven’t made it easy to track down all the specs and other key details about their new hardware, so having them run through the highlights got me up to speed way faster than skimming through all the articles out of Computex. I learned that the ROG Ally has an OLED display, while the MSI does not. On the other hand, the MSI will ship with the brand-new Intel Arc G3 Extreme chipset.
Speaking of, you can also catch Adam chatting with Intel vet Tom Petersen about the G3 Extreme and its impact on handheld gaming while he was on the ground at Computex in Taiwan.
