There’s no compromise with this wireless speaker, and you don’t even have to pay too much for it. Right now, it’s on sale for $134 at Amazon, down from its original $179 and sitting at its all-time lowest price.
This compact wireless speaker can connect via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or even AirPlay for your Apple devices. Take it with you to the pool, beach, or campgrounds with full peace of mind knowing that its IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating will keep it protected against rain, splashes, and more. And measuring 6.61 x 2.44 x 2.36 inches, it’s small enough to carry in hand or pack away for easy travel.
If you have other Sonos-branded devices on your network, this one will gel with them and play synchronized. And on Wi-Fi, it also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Sonos Voice Control. At $134, you’re paying a bit above true budget-tier entry-level portable speakers, but you’re getting the brand reputation and features of Sonos. Don’t get it if you’re on a shoestring budget.
Two more drawbacks to consider. First, it “only” has 10 hours of playback per charge, which is plenty for an all-day party but won’t last for a multi-day hiking or camping trip. Second, it’s not super-rugged. It isn’t a floating pool speaker and it won’t withstand extreme outdoor abuse.
