According to past patterns, Windows 11 26H2 should’ve released next Tuesday… but it’s actually already here. Windows 11 PCs running 25H2 or 24H2 (but not 26H1, which is specifically for Arm PCs) will receive the update as a tiny enablement package.
Once installed, the update will require a single restart. That’s because the actual code for the new features is already on eligible PCs and simply needs to be enabled (hence it being called an “enablement” package).
However, Microsoft isn’t actually rolling out 26H2 to all compatible PCs right away. Instead, it’ll proceed the same way that recent fall updates have gone: Microsoft will slowly make the update available to more and more users, with the rollout occurring in waves. If Windows detects a problem on a particular PC, it’ll prevent the installation of 26H2 on that machine.
To ensure you receive Windows 11 26H2 as soon as possible, you’ll need to enable the option “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” in Windows Update settings. After that, you’ll just need to wait until your Windows PC shows the “Windows 11 2026 Update” for installation.

Microsoft will provide support and feature updates for version 26H2 on Windows 11 Home and Pro until October 9th, 2028. Meanwhile, Enterprise and Education versions will receive support until October 8th, 2029.
