You can always count on Amazon Fire TV and Roku streaming devices to get Black Friday discounts, but Nvidia’s Sheild players? Not so much.
The good news is that both the Nvidia Shield and the Nvidia Shield Pro are getting Black Friday price drops this year—not huge price drops, mind you, but if you’ve been waiting for a Nvidia Shield discount, it’ll likely be a while before you see another.
The standard Nvidia Shield is now selling for $124.99 at Amazon, a 17-percent discount versus its usual $149.99, while the Nvidia Shield Pro is going for $169.99, also at Amazon and good for a 17-percent price drop.
Powered by Nvidia’s Tegra X1+ chip, both the Nvidia Shield and Shield Pro are favored by experienced cord-cutters for their raw processing power and support for AI-enabled 4K upscaling, not to mention Dolby Vision HDR and immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
The Nvidia Shield comes with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a microSD card slot, making it ideal for smooth 4K streaming as well as cloud gaming via Nvidia’s GeForce Now service.
Upping the ante, the Nvidia Shield Pro boosts the RAM to 3GB, doubles the storage to 16GB, and includes a pair of USB 3.0 ports for external storage drives and other peripherals. The Sheild Pro also arrives with a built-in Plex Media Server, perfect for streaming your local medio onto your big screen and other local or remote devices.
Nvidia Shield discounts don’t come around all that often, but when they do, you shouldn’t sleep on them.
Both the Nvidia Shield and Shield Pro are 17% off
